Alamo Paintball is the creation of Richard Beasley, Aka ‘Beas’. He now has over 36 years of military and paintball marshalling experience. At 17 years old he went off on his adventures in the Army for 8 years spending most of that time based in Germany. In the early 90s he, a couple of his chums and some nice American chaps went on a lovely trip to Kuwait. This was to explain to a Rotter named ‘Sad Man Insane’ that stealing someone else’s country just wasn’t cricket, and would he mined awfully if he left. After a little persuasion he saw the error of his ways apologised that he did not understand the rules of cricket and left.

In 1996 he left the army. After six months started, alongside his day job working part time as a Paintball marshal at a paintball site which he really enjoyed. In 2000 he decided to go it alone and open up his own paintball site. After two or three months of looking for the perfect land, on a chance meeting  he managed to find some land to rent to start building the site.

In October 2000 Alamo Paintball was born. If some of you are wondering where the name ‘Alamo Paintball’ came from. At the turn of the century the internet was very much in its infancy. Very few people used the internet to search for services ( I know people under 30, how did we ever survive?) Most business were in the Yellow Pages (A big 4 inch thick book with all the business listings in alphabetically). It was hoped that Alamo Paintball would be near the front of any Paintball services. Two or three years later everyone started using search engines to look for services, so that blew that idea out of the water. It’s also a famous Battle.

Alamo Paintball was originally located at Gildenburgh Water Diving centre In Whittlesey, twenty minutes’ drive outside Peterborough. It was the perfect set up for a first time business owner, all the carparking and toilets and other amenities including a bar were already set up. We had the areas around the Lake, in three separate small woods and a large open field which contained the safe zone and four different playing areas. The only problem with the site was that it was spread out over a large area and it could get a little wet underfoot in the winter. Over the next 13 years as his experience of running a paintball site grew, Beas started to think about moving the site to a better location, closer to Peterborough and with better access to all the main travel routes around the local area. In early 2013 we found it. The perfect location, in eleven acers of woodland on top of a hill ( no problems with it getting too wet, turns out gravity works) with very easy access to the A1 and too any one in Peterborough and the surrounding areas.

The new site was all in woodland and had five different playing areas all based centrally around the safe zone. After chatting with some of the residents of Chesterton, we agreed to pull the games back from the edge of the woods closest to the village to the upper areas of the woods to reduce noise. There were now five different playing areas, this time all in the upper half of the wood .

The first game at the new site was played on the 1^st of April (yes we know) 2013. We very much pride ourselves on giving people a real military experience in a safe environment. In purpose built playing areas, with many different scenarios. With a strong emphasis on safety whilst being delivered in a very light-hearted and fun manner. We have many different types of groups come to play at Alamo, from teens birthday parties to Stag and Hen parties and family groups. We have had most the senior schools in Peterborough and surrounding areas come and play with us. We have had military groups, Religious groups. We have had groups from all the main emergency services come and Children’s homes, We have had a few online clans that have known each other for years, but never met each other in real life before coming to play.

At Alamo Paintball we always strongly support our Military personal and veterans, All our emergency services and not forgetting our NHS staff. We all owe them a debt of gratitude. That is why we always give on production of Mod 90, Defence Discount card or Blue Light card, a free 100 balls as a small way of saying thank you for your service (Doh , now I sound like a Yank).
